WHERE TO FIND ME: 2019

JUNE-JULY
  • James Madison Fellowship Institute: I will be attending graduate school at Georgetown in Washington DC from mid-June to mid-July. Send me an email if you want to meet up!
AUGUST
  • ​​Austin ISD Districtwide Professional Development Day: I will be presenting two sessions: one on writing in the AP history classroom and one on interdisciplinary connections between APUSH and AP Language and Composition.

  • Austin High School Academy Retreat: I will be participating in a work day, supported by Austin High's instructional coaches, to develop and revise interdisciplinary lessons for the new school year to better align the two academies represented in my American Studies AP version course (Classical and Global), and develop ideas and lessons for the new grade level version of American Studies being implemented this year.

JUNE
  • Austin ISD BLEND for Blended Learning: In my role as the Campus Innovation Coach, I will learn how to better support teachers on my campus as they advance their blended learning skills. Check out my blog post on quizzing in a blended learning environment.
  • International Studies Schools Network (ISSN) Summer Institute: I will be presenting a session on Inquiry-Based Learning, with a focus on Native American cultures. Two student projects will be highlighted. https://asiasociety.org/education/events/issn-summer-institute 
JULY
  •  Native Knowledge 360° Teacher Institute: I will be immersed in in-depth scholarship about American Indian culture and issues, with an opportunity to explore materials to use in my classroom and to share with other teachers. http://www.nmai.si.edu/nk360/about.cshtml

  • Western History Association Conference: I will be presenting, along with several other teachers, in collaboration with the Library of Conference Teaching with Primary Sources Western Region, as well as collaborating with St. Mary's Public History Program as part of a "California Rising" workshop. https://www.westernhistory.org/2018
